2004 World Hot Air Ballooning Championships. An event guaranteed to lift everyone's spirits, nine days of non-stop entertainment coupled with fabulous food & wine. Mildura will rise to the occassion and become a lively and colourful international fiesta. Over one hundred international teams from 40 countries will take flight and bring Mildura's winter 'skies alive' in a blaze of colour and action during this remarkable international sporting event.The Championship will take place over 9 days with tens of thousands of spectators expected to attend. The competition is conducted 'just after dawn' and 'just before dusk' when Mother Nature's 'window of opportunity' allows safe flying conditions. Competition ballooning is similar to 3D sailing where pilots maneuver their 'lighter that air' craft through the ever changing 'flight paths' as they attempt to get from 'point A' to 'point B'.
