198 Squadron RAF, 1918 - 1945. The "Glory Days" is how some present day RAF personnel like to refer to the World War 2 period and with good reason, but the expression also has the effect of masking the RAF's high losses of aircrew and aircraft during that time. The simple fact is that many thousands of brave young men from many different nationalities fought and died for the freedom of this and other countries between 1939 and 1945, their heroism does not need embellishments, it more than speaks for itself. |
